Financial Aid Calendar

March 7, 2008   received (if you are an incoming student) a Financial Aid Information mailing from us.
March 1, 2008   visited our website (if you are a continuing student) for 2008-2009 information and should have begun the application process.
March 27, 2008   attended the Summer Workshop if you are a MD/MPH Combined Degree student who is seeking financial aid for the summer of 2008 semester (if you happen to be in New Orleans).
March 31, 2008  

completed and submitted a 2008-2009 FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov) being sure to list Tulane's federal school code of 002029.

March 31, 2008  

completed a 2008-2009 School of Medicine Financial aid Addendum and you should have EITHER faxed or mailed it to us, not both.

April 30, 2008   received (if you are an incoming student) your Notification of Aid Letter for 2008-2009. Upon our determination of your financial aid package, an e-mail will be sent that informs you of your award. You can check the status of your file here.
May 1, 2008   submitted your 2008 Summer Addendum (suggested deadline) if you are a MD/MPH Combined Degree student seeking financial aid and wish to receive timely delivery of your summer funds.
May 12, 2008   attended the exit session (if you are a graduating student) today at 1:00 pm or plan on attending one of the two sessons tomorrow.
May 13, 2008   attended one of the exit sessions (if you are a graduating student) at either 9:00 am OR 1:00 pm.
June 15, 2008  

selected (if you are an incoming student) the lender from whom you wish to borrow your Federal Stafford loan and have completed a Master Promissory Note (MPN) on line at that lender's web site. To review the Federal Stafford Tulane Streamlined Lender List, click here.

Whether you are an incoming or continuing student, if you are also borrowing a credit based Federal Graduate Plus loan or a credit-based private loan, you should have applied on line at your lender’s web site for EITHER of these loans, but not both. Please review the Frequently Asked Questions for the differences between Graduate Plus loans and private loans, and for application links.

June 15, 2008   fully completed and submitted your 2008 Summer Addendum if you are a MD/MPH combined degree student, as today is the DEADLINE.
July 2008   begun your program if you are a fourth year student.
July 2008   begun your program if you are a third year student.
July 16, 2008  

received your fall financial aid direct deposit refund (if you are a THIRD or FOURTH year student). If you have not signed up for direct deposit at Accounts Receivable, please allow additional days for receipt of your refund via check.

Note: Use of a non-streamlined lender may cause a delay in receipt of your refund.

July 25, 2008   signed up (incoming students) for Tulane's direct deposit feature at the Accounts Receivable Office web site. Incoming students cannot sign up for direct deposit until you have registered and been charged tuition.
August 1, 2008   attended orientation if you are a first year student.
August 4, 2008   begun attending classes if you are a first or second year student.

August 7, 2008

  attended Dr. Kahn's Dean's Hour wherein University Finanical aid will offer a financial aid presentation and an "entrance interview" for first time borrowers at Tulane. This is for mandatory for FIRST year students.
August 13, 2008  

received your fall financial aid direct deposit refund (if you are a first or second year student). If you have not signed up for direct deposit, please allow additional days for receipt of your refund via check.

Note: Expect delays in receipt of your refund if using non-preferred Tulane lenders.

received your spring financial aid direct deposit refund (first through fourth year students). If you have not signed up for direct deposit, please allow additional days for receipt of your refund via check.

July 2009   begun your program if you are a third or fourth year student.
August 2009   attended orientation if you are a first year student.
August 2009   begun attending classes if you are a first or second year student.
 
***IMPORTANT***
Keep the School of Medicine Student Affairs Office updated on your local and permanent addresses to assure timely receipt of all university correspondence
